"Every company faces an attack sooner or later. And if you want to defend yourself, you need to make sure you are not the weakest in the class and that you take a lot of basic hygiene measures. A lot of companies do not know the best way to do that. That's part of the reason they get into a course like this. If you do not invest in cybersecurity, one day you are going to have problems and you are going to be a victim of a cyberattack. Maybe all your data will be encrypted and you will not be able to get to it, which means you will not be able to serve your customers. That's going to cost you a lot more money than if you proactively invest something in security."
Siebe De Roovere - Security Consultant Toreon
"The main reason was that we store a lot of sensitive customer data in our environment. We followed this process to have confirmation that we are doing the right thing on the one hand, and on the other hand to see what other things we can screw up so we are 100% sure that everything is secure. It also gives us a nice advantage over our competitors. The landscape of IT is so broad with so many different specialties that it's impossible to manage everything internally. Security is a specialty in itself. At Toreon, we are fortunate that they have many in-house experts specifically for 1 area."

Security is not something you do once, you have to keep iterating. There are always new vulnerabilities you need to guard against, and you need to constantly gain maturity.
