This quote relates directly to scope of the early days of BizzMine, at that time known under the name "Vivaldi Software": a software platform for Quality, Safety, Environment and Health management systems.
"Always try to become a better version of yourself."
It is not because you can never reach the level of perfection, that you shouldn't strive for it. Continuous improvement, together with risk-based thinking, should be a part of everyone's daily agenda. It should be integrated into every single aspect of your job and your business.
When it comes to occupational health and safety, there is not much room to maneuver. Stakes are high. And when things go wrong (WSHF) because of an unsafe situation, people could die.
It is the same with product quality. You want to be the best in your industry, because the second is the first loser. And in industries like F&B (food & beverages) or the medical device industry people could die because of a bad or faulty product.
When it comes to investing time and resources into quality, safety, evironmental care or occupational health, you should forget the Pareto principle (80-20 rule). Putting 80% of effort into it can never ever be good enough. Forget "efficiency", effectiveness rules. Even if you throw in everything you have, it might not be good enough. Try to measure your results and your risks. And set new goals, don't be too easy on yourself. Always aim higher!
If everyone thinks the same, we will live in a healthier, safer and better world.
